Fire crews had to cut one person from a car after a four vehicle crash in Finchingfield.
Two crews from Braintree were called to Wethersfield Road at around 9.15am this morning.
Upon arrival they found four vehicles had been involved in a crash and one person was trapped in their car.
Firefighters released the person by 10.10am, leaving them in the care of the ambulance service before ensuring all four vehicles and the surrounding area were safe.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Two rapid response vehicles, two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and air ambulance from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were dispatched.
"They treated a woman, believed to be in her 40s, who had hip pain, who was taken to Broomfield Hospital by land ambulance for further care.
"A second patient was also taken to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment."
