Braintree Town’s relocation plans are set to be discussed with fans at a public meeting.

All of the club’s directors and the first team coaching staff will attend a fans forum where the new stadium plans will be discussed.

Once the proposals have been scrutinised by fans, who will have the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions, an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders will take place.

Chairman Lee Harding said: “We are looking forward to the chance of explaining the ideas to the fans.

“We are making some progress and before we get to a point where things are confirmed we want to explain our thinking to the supporters. The club is trying to keep people informed and we want to give them an opportunity to shape our future.

“I am hopeful it will create interest. There have been some successful stories of relocations of clubs in the past such as Wycombe Wanderers but for every success story there is one that has gone wrong.

The meeting takes place in the clubhouse at the Ironmongery Direct Stadium at 7.45pm on Thursday, February 15.

The site of Braintree Town’s training facilities and car park has been allocated for homes in the Local Plan.

The club has requested a meeting with Braintree Council leader Graham Butland to seek his advice and input on the plans.
