A man tried to open a teenager's car door when she was driving in Great Notley.

The woman, who is 18 but The Times has agreed not to name, was driving down London Road at around 5.50pm on Saturday.

As she approached a roundabout and slowed down a man tried to open her passenger door.

He came right up to the window, looked inside the vehicle and tried the door handle.

Her doors locked automatically and she was able to drive away when the roundabout was clear.

There were two men involved, both thought to be in their early 20s.

The one who tried to open the door was described as white, tall and with dark hair.

The incident has been reported to Essex Police.

A spokesman said: "We received a phone call about two men acting suspiciously in London Road, Great Notley.

"The report said as a woman was driving a man tried to open her car door.

"Officers attended the scene and searched the area but were unable to locate the men."
