A YOUNG teenager has won an award for his bravery and courage.

Jake Butler, 13, was presented with the Jack Petchey Award at PARC where he attends regular after school sessions.

He was nominated by his friends and the team at PARC for his display of bravery after some tough events over the last few weeks.

His sister, Zoe, said: "Jake has been very brave and has taken it all in his stride.

"We are very, very proud of him and how he has been dealing with everything.

"He is very excited to have won the award and enjoys his time at PARC very much."

Thanks to the award Jake will be able to choose a special treat for himself and his friends at the Youth Club at PARC.

The award is a reward and recognition scheme which is being handed out at PARC three times each year.

It allows organisations to celebrate the achievements of children and young people and also receive additional funding.

Ryan Mutlow, who is in charge of the award at PARC, said: 'We are thrilled that Jake has won the award this year. He has been very brave and showed a great deal of courage in the last few weeks.

"We look forward to helping him celebrate his special treat."
