A HAIRDRESSER from Witham is taking on a half marathon to help raise awareness of the disease which has affected so many people she knows.

Phillippa Gigg, 29, has run Yaxley Hair and Beauty, in Newland Street, for around eight years.

On Saturday she will be taking on Royal Parks Half Marathon, raising money for breast cancer charity Coppafeel!

Phillippa said: “It is a newish up and coming charity. I have got quite a few clients, friends and family who have been effected by breast cancer so I wanted to do something.

“It is about raising awareness and some money at the same time.”

Phillippa wants to raise £350 for the charity, which provides information on the disease at public events across the UK, focusing particularly on educating young people.

Phillippa said: “I only started running earlier this year. I did a half marathon at the beginning of the year but I struggled with a hip injury.

"I have been training since and this time I want to do it in less than 2hours 40minutes."
