PARTY guests were threatened with a baseball bat and a golf club in an altercation which also saw a man struck with a bottle. 

Essex Police were called to a property in Collingwood Road, Witham, just before 10pm on Friday after hearing about the threats from someone who had pulled up outside the address.

After an altercation involving a large group of people, with one man being struck with a bottle, he was taken to hospital for treatment for cuts.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Braintree on suspicion of actual bodily harm who has now been released without charge. 

A 25-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and making off without payment.

Curtis Reynolds, of Brent Close, Witham, will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday, November 13.

A 17-year-old girl from Braintree arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer and being drunk and disorderly has been released under investigation.

Two other girls were arrested but following enquiries at the scene they were subsequently released.
