VISITORS to a Braintree Council’s office will be able to charge their electric car.
The new dual 22kW fast charger has been supplied and commissioned by electric company Chargemaster, who installed a charging point on the council site in Bocking Hall End.
Braintree councillor Wendy Schmitt, responsible for environment and place, said: “We want to support drivers who use electric vehicles.
“We’re committed to doing our bit to help address poor air quality and the impact of climate change.
“It is the very greenest of projects as the solar panels on the building contributes to the car charger’s electricity.
“We will explore the opportunity of installing similar electric chargers in other carpark locations around the district.”
Users will be charged a minimum fee of £1.50 for using the pump, as well as paying 30p per Kwh of power.
Owners of electric cars pay around £3 to fill up their tanks.
