Tributes have been paid to a much-loved grandmother and Tesco employee, known for her wonderful smile.

Sandra Wilkinson, of White Court, was born in Chelmsford to parents Dorothy and Frank in 1951.

She met husband Peter in 1970 whilst working as a secretary at Marconi’s.

The pair quickly became inseparable and married on June 10, 1973. They had two children, Nicola and Simon, and in turn, two grandchildren, Maisie and Cohen, who have been described as “the centre of her universe”.

Later in life, Mrs Wilkinson went on to become a very well-known face after taking up a job at Great Notley Tesco. Here she became known for her smile and her obvious love of people.

A funeral was held at Chelmsford Crematorium on Friday. Granddaughter Maisie read a poem she had written to the audience of friends, family and wellwishers.

An outpouring of tributes have been left on Facebook to Mrs Wilkinson, who passed away peacefully at Broomfield Hospital last month.
