A GROUP of youngsters raised more than £1,100 for a fundraising appeal in aid neuroblastoma patient Jacob Jones, 5, with a silly sock run.

On Sunday, June 25, the children, aged between four and 16, took part in a 2 kilometre silly sock fun run, in aid of Jacob's Appeal.

The run took part at Notley Discovery Centre, alongside the Great Notley junior park run which takes place every Sunday.

Competitors all donned silly socks for the event and managed to complete the full distance for the appeal.

So far the youngsters have collected £1,158 in sponsorship for the appeal.

Caroline Beasley, who helped organise the event with Alison Bryant, said: "No-one can begin to imagine the pain that a parent or family has go to through to watch their child suffer, so to help support this cause a small group of children took it on themselves, with the help of their parents, to raise some money to help Jacob along his way.

"We would like to thank the organisers at Great Notley park run for letting us hold the event there and we would also like to wish Jacob all the health and best wishes for the future."
