A WOMAN diagnosed with terminal breast cancer is having to raise thousands of pounds for private treatment.

Glenda Watson, from Witham, found a lump in her breast in August 2015.

Ms Watson, 52, of Pondholton Drive, was told there was no tumour when she had X-rays.

As she still had the lump, she was referred to Broomfield Hospital, and in September was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She said: “For the last 18 months it’s just been too consuming, it’s all I think about and it’s affecting the whole family- I have a 16-year-old son.

“I can’t walk very far and I have had to buy a special bed because if I lay down I choke.

“Nothing can be spontaneous any more, everything has to be planned.”

The cancer has since spread to her armpit, neck and chest, and it is now terminal.

She had two types of chemotherapy, which only slightly reduced the tumours.

Following the second type she needed two blood transfusions, as it had affected her blood count.

She cannot have the tumours removed as they are in a dangerous position.

Her only hope is immunotherapy, and she has been told it is not available on the NHS as she has had too many rounds of treatment.

Her friend and neighbour of 16 years, Dawn Sharp, is helping her pay privately.

She is trying to raise at least £35,000.

She said: “We couldn’t stand to see her like that.

“She is the loveliest person you will ever meet, she will do anything for anyone.

“I don’t know how she has coped, she has not had an easy time.”

Despite her diagnosis she still works as a payroll administrator for Crittall Windows, and said the staff were absolutely brilliant.
