A PASSSIONATE music teacher has set up a new drum studio in Braintree.

Andy Franklin has been playing drums for 33-years and has supported bands like The Stranglers and The Blockheads.

His true passion is teaching however and so Andy decided to set up Alf Drum Studios at his home in Church Meadows, Braintree.

From there Andy offers professional drum lessons for all ages and abilities, drumming workshops and restoration work on instruments.

He also offers additional tuition in djembe and other hand percussion instruments.

A few years ago he led a group of more than 100 people in a unique rum workshop at the Discovery Centre, Great Notley.

He said: “I have played on numerous studio recording over the years and I have been studying drums for the past 30 years.

“In the last 10 years or so I have specifically gone into teaching and it is now such a passion.

“I have done my exam with Rock School Limited and I am now fully recognised by them.

“I teach grading from basic level to grade eight in the purpose built studio, it is designed with the latest in low volume technology to keep my neighbours happy.

“In my opinion music should be accessible to all and if there are difficulties that we have to get over then we should make the effort to get past them.”
