AN amateur dramatics company are set to perform a classic medieval tale for their annual panto.

The Kelvedon Players will be performing seven shows of Camelot, written by Ben Crocker, at the Kelvedon Institute starting next Friday.

The story takes place on the wedding day of Guinevere and King Arthur in medieval England.

But before the couple can tie the knot, the scheming Morgan le Fay intervenes and forges a magical document that promises the princess to Valerin the Vicious.

Not only does the hapless Arthur have to woo and win Guinevere in double-quick time, but he has to out foil kidnap plots, and a couple of other knights, only one of whom is visible.

Of course wise wizard Merlin is on hand to help, along with a dancing bear, a jester and a faithful friend.

Rosemary Townsend will direct the players for all seven performances.

The Kelvedon Players have been providing amateur dramatics in Kelvedon for more than 50 years.

Shows take place on the evenings of January 27, 28, 29 and February 3, 4.

There are matinee performances at 2.30pm on Saturdays.

Tickets cost £7 for adults and £5.50 for concessions.

They can be purchased from the The Master Butcher on Kelvedon High Street or by calling 07742532192.
