A CHRISTMAS bazaar raised more than £3,000 for churches.
Great Dunmow's Christmas bazaar was hailed a success by organisers after its annual event last Saturday.
The bazaar, held at the Catholic Church Hall in Mill Lane was described as "a successful and happy occasion" by organisers.
Claire Reeve, on behalf of the bazaar committee, said: "The stalls were very festive, decked out with fresh greenery and laden with lots of gifts and produce.
Visitors enjoyed refreshments, including mulled wine, and were entertained by a ukulele group as they browsed the Christmas fayre.
The Town Crier, Richard Harris, promoted the event in the High Street and town mayor Danielle Frost cut the ribbon to open proceedings.
A fantastic total of more than £3,600 was raised which will help support the churches of Our Lady and St Anne Line in Great Dunmow and Our Lady of Lourdes in Hatfield Broad Oak and the organisers wish to thank everyone who gave their support."
