A MAN in his 20’s is being treated by ambulance crews after an incident on Rayne Road, Braintree.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene outside National Tyres, on Rayne Road, at 1.56pm today.

A spokesman for the ambulance services said the incident was a collision between a pedestrian and a car.

The patient, in his 20’s, is being treated at the scene with a suspected broken leg.

He will be transported to hospital shortly.

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1.56pm with reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a hazardous area response team and the Essex Air Ambulance.

“They are treating one patient, a man in his 20’s, with a suspected broken leg.”

A passer by said he believed the incident had happened inside the garage. 

He said: "I have been here for about 20 minutes and it seems quite serious due to the amount of police cars and ambulances here. 

"Considering how many people there are there must be more to it."

UPDATE 4.30PM: The ambulance service left the scene. 

A spokesman said: “We have since left the scene and have taken the patient to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment.

“It appears that it was an incident where a car lost control, came off the road and hit a pedestrian.

“It is not believed to be life threatening injuries.”

The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service was called at about 2pm. 

Firefighters said they assisted at the scene of a collision involving one vehicle which had come off the road and crashed into a car garage.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police were contacted at about 2pm on September 29 with reports of a collision at National Tyres and Autocare in Rayne Road, Braintree.

"A Jaguar S Type was in collision with a pedestrian.

"Officers, the ambulance service and fire service attended. The pedestrian, a man aged in his 20s, suffered a leg injury and was taken to hospital.

"The Health and Safety Executive has been informed."
