A WOMEN'S Institute group knitted an 18 inch replica of a care home as a gift for its residents.

Braintree's Dolphin WI group knitted the replica of the Bradbury House Care Home building complete with unique details like the lace curtains.

Marion Jeffreys and Maureen Woodward from the group presented the homemade gift to the home, where Marion's mother Wyn Carter is a resident.

The knitted masterpiece has a polystyrene and cardboard structure with the cover sewn on, and is now on proud display in the home's dining room.

Jolene Anderson, home manager at Bradbury House, said: “We are so touched to be given this fabulous model.

"The scale and detail are extraordinary, even down to the name plaque, chimney and windows.

"It must have taken hours to create, and we are delighted that these two ladies took the time to produce it for us.”
