COGGESHALL Post Office is moving to new premises and will be extending its opening hours from October.

The branch, which is currently located at 1 Market End, will be moving to a new open-plan branch inside the McColls convenience store on Church Street.

A new counter integrated into the retail counter of the store will be used to provide services across the shop's opening hours.

In total this will mean that the Post Office in the village is open for an extra 70 hours a week, including all day Sunday and in the afternoon on Saturday - the branch will also no longer close over lunchtime.

The move is part of major modernisation across the postal network designed to make it easier for customers to do business with longer opening hours and modern environments.

Will Russell, Post Office regional manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

"We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The current branch will close on Thursday October 6 at 5.30pm before the new branch opens on Friday October 7 at 1pm.
