A SECOND event for children has been cancelled because of travellers.

In late June a fun day for disabled children held by Play and Resource Centre, Parc, was cancelled after around eight caravans arrived outside their premises in Great Notley Country Park.

Now an inflatables day organised by Notley Green Primary School has been cancelled because organisers are unable to access the field it needs.

This is due to concrete bollards surrounding it - put in as a preventative measure by Braintree Council

Travellers left the site in Notley Green early this morning.

Braintree and Witham Times:

A statement from Friends of Notley Green School said: "Due to circumstances beyond our control it is with great regret that we are forced to cancel our inflatables event today.

"As you are probably aware by now that due to the recent traveller encampment in Great Notley the council have had to erect temporary concrete bollards in other areas of the village to protect it for the time being.

"This has therefore stopped us getting access to the field for set up for the event. We plan to re-book this event for a full day during the summer holidays and will advertise this date as soon as one has been booked.

"Of course a full refund will be available to anyone who is unable to attend the new date, upon return of their purchase wristband. As a committee we tried everything we could to avoid this and we would like to apologise for any disappointment."
