MUSIC lovers gathered in the sunshine for a day of live music.

More than 3,000 people took to Kelvedon Recreation Ground for the annual community festival on Saturday, with more than ten local bands spread across two stages.

The festival, which costs just over £20,000 to run, relies on the generosity of sponsors, fundraisers and money made on the day.

Jan Stobart, secretary of the festival committee, said: "It went very well, we had about 3,000 people come along.

"We had two stages with live music, a silent disco and a kids' zone.

"There was a lovely family atmosphere and because it's free you get people who wouldn't normally come to a festival, it's lovely.

"A team of volunteers organise the committee every year and have done since 2000.

"At the moment we're not sure if it will run next year because it's a lot of hard work and we need more volunteers to help us."
