THERE was a sea of red, white and blue at Silver End Primary School last week as the children held a street party in honour of the Queen.

Celebrating the Queen's birthday was the first time some of the students had learnt about the Royal Family.

Victoria Gooding, head of school, said: "It was a celebration that enabled our whole school community to get together.

"The children wore red, white and blue for the day and many of them wore items of clothing that proudly displayed the Union Jack flag.

"In the afternoon, the children visited other classes in the school and mixed with different year groups. They completed a range of activities such as creating rooms for Buckingham palace and exploring the Royal Family tree."

The children had a party style lunch in the decorated hall and even recorded a happy birthday message and song.

The held the party on Tuesday, May 17.
