Hundreds of cyclists are preparing to saddle up to Ride For Helen but a cancer care charity still needs you to help them make a difference.

The annual cycle event, which is being run for the third time, is organised by Chelmsford's Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, which supports people living with cancer and their families.

With just days to go before the big event, which takes place on Sunday 8 May, the charity is urging people of all ages to use their pedal power to really make a difference.

They will have the choice of cycling one of four circular routes through the beautiful Essex countryside, all starting and finishing at The Crix, Hatfield Peverel.

Last year the event raised more than £38,000 for the charity and the organisers are hoping that more than a thousand cyclists will take part.

One of the routes this year, the six miler, is a new one and ideal for families looking to enjoy a Sunday with a difference; with each paying adult, there is one free junior place available.

The other routes cover 15, 35 and 65 miles so cyclists of all abilities can take part.

Back at base, a special guest attending the event is world-class snooker player Ali Carter who lives locally.

Cyclists and their supporters will also be able to enjoy refreshments, a pop-up cycling shop, bike maintenance point, photo opportunities, sports massage and children’s inflatables.

You can turn up and ride on the day, for just £20 per adult, with one free  junior place for every adult, and extra juniors are £8 – visit www.rideforhelen.co.uk for registration and timing details.
