A BUS company is raising money for charity as the double decked bus celebrates its last year in service.

The Stephensons bus company, which has depots in Essex, will be saying goodbye to the double decker Olympian buses next year.

They first started running in 1981, and 10 Olympian buses remain, but from January next year due to disability regulations, they will have to be withdrawn and replaced with more modern buses.

To celebrate their service, the bus company is holding a ‘running day’ on Saturday, June 4, based on their routes in West Suffolk , from Bury St Edmunds to Haverhill and from Bury St Edmunds to Mildenhall and Newmarket.

The money raised will be given to the Air Ambulance charity.

Normal fares will apply on the day.

For those who wish to travel on several routes and break the day with refreshments there will be an £8 Day Ticket which will be available from bus drivers on the day.

Further details will be available from www.stephensonsofessex.com from Friday, April 1 2016.
