The family of a missing pensioner have said they are “distraught” he hasn’t been found almost a month after he went missing.

Gordon Wilson, 82, went missing 27 days ago on October 25 from his home in Leadon Roding.

Mr Wilson, who has vascular dementia and has a heart defect, was last seen in Halstead Road, Sible Hedingham, between 2pm and 4pm on the same day when two motorcyclists and a passerby stopped to help him after he fell in the road.

His daughter, Lesley Rankin, said: “He and mum used to really like going out in their car and one of the places they went to was Halstead.

“They enjoyed visiting the shops and walking along the river.

“Mum was called Sybil so they would always visit Sible Hedingham and sometimes went to the castle as well.”

Sybil died in July 2013 and Mrs Rankin believes her father might have travelled to Halstead to relive some of their happy memories there.

His bus pass was used to get a bus to Halstead and he was seen walking in the direction of Butler Road.

“He was only diagnosed with dementia two weeks before he disappeared,” she added.

“He never really got over Sybil’s death as he was the own that cared for her.

“He has never walked off like this before.

“We are really worried and distraught that there has been no sighting of him since he went missing.

“Someone must have seen him - he can’t just have disappeared.

“It would be absolutely fantastic if someone could come forwards with a sighting that would help us find where he is.”

An Essex Police spokesman confirmed that there was no update and no further sightings of him since the one in Sible Hedingham.

Searches are continuing in the surrounding areas.

Mr Wilson is 5ft 11ins, of medium build with grey, thinning hair.

Officers are also still looking at the possibility that he may be trying to reach Glasgow, where he lived for more than 70 years and served as the headmaster at Shawlands Academy.

He wears glasses and was last seen wearing a sports jacket, which is either checked or navy. He usually wears a shirt, tie and jumper.

Anyone who sees him should call 101 urgently.
