The grandmother of a teenager who collapsed in pain outside a doctors surgery has spoken of her “disgust” after nobody came to her aid for 30 minutes.

The woman, 19, went to the Blandford Medical Centre, in Mace Avenue, Braintree, on September 24, complaining of pain in her abdomen.

After the appointment, the woman, who did not want to be named, walked out of the surgery and collapsed to one side of the entrance.

After half an hour lying on the floor, the woman was treated by paramedics and was rushed to Broomfield
Hospital with suspected appendicitis.

Her grandmother, Doreen Wisdom, of Church Street, Bocking, said: "She was crying down the phone and couldn’t get up off the floor.

"It was horrible to hear – she knew she couldn’t get up and no one was coming for help."

Caroline Hird, practice manager at Blandford Medical Centre, said: "If we were made aware of any collapsed patient, we would have dealt with it appropriately."
