Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision.

The cyclist was riding along School Lane in Rayne towards Felsted when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

The man, in his 40s who lives in the area, was seriously injured.

He suffered a broken back and cuts and grazes.

He has no memory of what happened and is currently receiving treatment at Broomfield Hospital.

Anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Essex Police on 101 quoting incident 413 of August 19.
