National advertising to raise the profile of the campaign to find missing Chris May from Kelvedon has been secured by the independent charity Missing People.

Three months have now passed since Chris was last seen at his father’s home in Coggeshall on the morning of Monday, May 25.

His silver Volkswagen Golf was abandoned in Troy’s Chase, Fairstead later that morning.

As part of the continued efforts to get information in to the investigation team to help find out what has happened to 28-year-old Chris, Missing People has secured advertising on digital boards across the country as well as an advert in the Big Issue, both to run from today, Monday, August 24.

Missing People is the only charity in the UK which specialises in, and is dedicated to, bringing missing children and adults back together with their families. The charity runs a free, confidential and 24/7 helpline, 116 000, supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. More information is available at missingpeople.org.uk.

DCI Marina Ericson, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate and the lead officer on the investigation, said: "I am really grateful for all the assistance Missing People have given to us and this national advertising will mean we can reach a wider audience with the appeal for information about Chris’ whereabouts.

"Since Chris went missing in May I have been appealing for anyone with information to come forward. There will be someone out there who knows something but for whatever reason has not come forward so far.

"I made an appeal in June for the author of a letter delivered by Royal Mail to Witham police station on June 1, to contact me.

"To date that person has not made contact. I would like to appeal to them to make contact with me directly either by phone on 101 or alternatively send me an email to marina.ericson@essex.pnn.police.uk”

A Missing People team member said: "Chris we are here for you whenever you are ready; we can listen, talk you through what help you need, pass a message for you and help you to be safe. Call. Text. Anytime. Free. Confidential. 116000.”

An estimated 250,000 people go missing each year in the UK. Free, confidential and 24-hour support can be obtained by calling or texting 116000 or by emailing 116000@missingpeople.org.uk Missing People can also pass on messages to families on the missing person’s behalf or set up a three-way call.

To date extensive enquiries have so far been unable to establish what happened to Chris after his car was left in Fairstead.
