LIFE in Second World War Braintree will be revealed at a one-off event on Saturday.

Braintree District Museum will host a military jeep display while visitors can try using a stirrup pump, disarming a bomb, dressing up as an air raid warden and eating some rationing cakes and baskets.

World War Two: The People’s Story, will also feature craft activities where visitors can make their own wartime posters, model spitfires and American aircrafts.

A series of talks will see Ross Stewart discussing the history of Wethersfield VIllage airbase, Dee Gorman talking about ESsex Land Army Girls and Paul Rusiecki signing copies of his new bookUnder Fire: Essex and the Second World War’.

Braintree choir Vocal Reflections will perform wartime songs.
