Family and friends are hoping to raise £10,000 to convert a garden for two brothers who suffer from a muscle-wasting condition, which could see them live to just 18.
Matthew and Joseph Harvey, who live in Gimson Close, Witham with their mum Emma, dad Simon and younger brother Oliver, four, suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and are often unable to use their back garden for much of the year.
Matthew, 12, permanently uses a wheelchair and Joseph, nine, only uses a wheelchair for long outings or when he is ill, but is likely to lose the ability to walk within a year.
Now Matthew and Joseph’s aunt Karen Duckmanton, of Cromwell Way, Witham, has set up a fundraising campaign to raise enough money to convert their garden so they can use it properly.
