A lorry driver has been taken to hospital after crashing off the northbound A12.

The incident happened at around 8.40am after junction 22 Witham North.

One lane is closed and traffic is moving slowly back to junction 21.

The lorry is still upright and traffic is slowing to look at the incident. 

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust said: "We sent an ambulance and an ambulance officer to treat the driver of a lorry.

"He was taken to Broomfield Hospital with minor injuries."

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police are at the scene of a road collision on the A12 where a lorry has ended up off the road.

"No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

"The driver has been taken to hospital by ambulance."

 

Update 10.30am - all lanes are now open but traffic remains slow past the scene.

Update 11.35am - one lane has been closed to recover the lorry. Traffic is slow moving back to junction 19 at Boreham.
