Campaigners are appealing for a new crossing to be installed near a Braintree academy after a pupil was injured in a car crash.
A 13-year-old boy, who is in Year 8 at Alec Hunter Academy, broke the front and back of his pelvis and needed treatment at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge after he was in collision with a car in Cressing Road in January.
The pupil, who is now back at school, has not fully recovered from his injuries and is still using crutches to walk around.
Headteacher Trevor Lawn said: “Children who live on the Mark’s Farm estate cross the road by the King George playing field.
“The kids walk straight out of there and go straight across Cressing Road."
