A school will host a 5k race to raise money for a cancer charity.

Gosfield School, in Halstead Road, Gosfield, is inviting parents and children to take part in a Race for Life event for Cancer Research UK.

The event will take place on Friday, May 8, at 2pm in the grounds of the school.

There will be 200 medals up for grabs with trophies for the male and female winners and the first male and female senior school runners to cross the line, plus silverware for the first Prep school boys and girls through the tape.

The four to 11-year-olds will race over a shortened course.

Principal Dr Sarah Welch said: "We are delighted to be the first school in the area to take part in this new initiative.

“Gosfield pupils of all ages, parents and staff will be helping to raise both money and awareness of the marvellous work of Cancer Research UK through this fantastic event."

The race is free to enter and you can register by emailing sarah.freeman@live.co.uk.
