A man is running the marathon for a cancer charity after his dad’s diagnosis.
Matthew Hitchin, 37, is hoping to raise £2,000 for thee World Cancer Research Fund after his dad, George, 66, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year.
Matthew, of Rayne, said: “This is my first marathon but training is going well so I am looking forward to it.
“My dad was diagnosed last year but he is now in the clear.
“This spurred me on to do something.
“The charity is more about prevention and is world wide so I thought it would be a good charity to support.
“It’s a very worthy charity.”
He is holding a quiz on Saturday in the Rayne Village Hall from 6pm, with the quiz starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £7 and teams of up to six people.
