Plans have been submitted to Braintree Council to build 15 flats on a builders yard near Kwik-Fit in Braintree.
The plans for land to the rear of 138 to 142 South Street are for 15 one-bedroom apartments either side of a central communal atrium.
The eastern side would have three storeys and the western side would be a two storey building.
According to the plans the flats on the eastern side would look across to The Mulberrys but would not overlook private gardens.
The two-storey part would have an oblique outlook onto private gardens but when more detailed plans are drawn up this could change.
Pedestrian access to the site would be provided by the existing track from South Street down the side of Kwik-Fit.
