Cards made by youngsters across the district are bringing delight to those who would otherwise not receive a card.

Children at Cressing Primary School, Bocking Primary School, Rayne Primary School, Shalford Primary School, White Notley Primary School, Great Bradfords Junior School, Beckers Green Primary School and St Michaels Primary School made cards to enter into a competition run by the Christian Youth Outreach.

However, once the competition was over, organisers decided it would be a shame to waste the brilliant artwork the children had created.

Instead, Braintree Primary Schools worker for Christian Youth Outreach Sheena Mill organised for them to be sent via charity Stand by Me to children in Burma, Ethiopia, India, Nepal, Colombia, Dominican Republic and Romania, many of whom would not normally have received a card.

The cards arrived in time for Christmas.

Sheena Mill said: “The delight on the children’s faces and the letters we have received show just how much the cards were appreciated and certainly made all the hard work well worth it.”
