Touching tributes have been paid to an outspoken councillor who was instrumental in campaigning for safety improvements to the A120.

Henry Biggs, known as Bob, a parish councillor for Bradwell, died on New Year’s Day following a sudden heart attack.

Only two days earlier, the 66-year-old attended the funeral of Kathleen Jose Hill, a former chairman of the parish council, who died on December 16.

The dad-of-three was well known in the village for fighting to reduce the speed limit on the A120 and was part of the Save Lives Not Time campaign.

He was elected onto Bradwell Parish Council four years ago after raising his worries as a concerned resident.

Fellow parish councillor Renee Hockley-Byam, 67, who lives opposite Mr Biggs in Coggeshall Road, Bradwell, said: “He was very outspoken, a real character.

“He is an East-ender originally and he moved here 30 years ago - since then the A120 and the whole area has got busier, which is why we both ended up joining the parish council."
