Police are hoping to track down a car after a cyclist was injured in a hit-and-run.

A 42-year-old man was cycling home from work along the A120 towards Braintree at 11.15pm on Saturday.

When he was approaching Coggeshall, he was in collision with a car that was leaving a lay-by, causing him to fall off his bike onto the grass verge.

The car did not stop and it drove off.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and was taken to hospital for treatment to a suspected broken arm as well as minor cuts and bruising to his forehead.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information should contact PC Jason Dearsley at Stanway Roads Policing Unit on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
