Steam enthusiasts can look forward to seeing another classic engine pulling up in Witham station.

Staff at Steam Dreams Locomotives added a stop at Witham on February 11 after crowds of people turned out to take pictures of their Cathedrals Express when it stopped for water on June 28.

The Royal Norfolkman, hauled by B1 Locomotive 61306 Mayflower, will start its journey to Windsor from Norwich at 8am, calling at Ipswich at 9am, Colchester at 9.30am and finally Witham at 10am to pick up passengers.

It will be the Mayflower’s first mainline trip in more than 20 years.

Marcus Robertson, chairman of Steam Dreams, said: “We are delighted to be able to stop at Witham for this trip, following the overwhelming turn out by locals when we stopped here briefly in the summer to take on water.

“We realised there must be a lot of steam enthusiasts in the area, so we hope some of them will be able to join us for this memorable trip.”
