GP services in Witham are among the best in the district, according to a new ratings system.

Health watchdog the Care Quality Commission has given all 7,661 surgeries in England a rating from one to six, with one being the most at risk of giving poor care, based on how surgeries meet 38 key indicators.

The Douglas Grove Surgery was given a six while the Collingwood Road Surgery and the Dr Teverson and Partners surgery in Newland Street were both given a four.

The Witham Health Centre in Mayland Road was found to have the most risk factors and was given a rating of three.

However, two practices in Kelvedon have been placed on a national list of 1,200 surgeries that could be putting patients at “risk” or “elevated risk” of poor care.
