An overwhelming majority of people have opposed plans that could triple the number of planes flying over the Braintree district.
A total of 419 people took part in a 12-week consultation conducted by air traffic control authority NATS.
Daily departures from Stansted Airport currently leave in two directions, with about 58 flying south-east towards Dover and 51 taking off east over the Braintree district towards Clacton.
NATS wants to ease congestion over Heathrow by switching daytime-only flights from the Dover route to the Clacton one, which could see 153 planes a day flying over Braintree.
Of those people who commented on the plans, 76 per cent were people who would experience more planes flying overhead and objected.
