Witham Operatic Society will be performing Rodgers and Hammerstein's last work together, The Sound of Music, from Monday to next Saturday.

Based on the story of the von Trapp family it tells the story of a young nun who, finding the confines of a convent claustrophobic, is sent to look after the children of a retired naval officer and introduces the family to song.

The performance also has an interesting twist - Niels Bradley, takes the role of Georg von Trapp with his actual daughter, Ella, playing the youngest von Trapp, Gretl, in the first major role either of them has played.

The performance will be at Witham Public Hall, in Collingwood Road. Tickets are available from Witham Information Centre or by calling 07546 351600.
