A dad-of-two who was scarred for life after he had acid thrown in his face has thanked the paramedics who swiftly came to his aid.

Wayne Ingold, 56, had gone to collect his post from the communal entrance of a block of flats in Bramble Road, Witham, when two men threw the corrosive liquid at him from a sports bottle.

He was flown by Essex Air Ambulance to Broomfield Hospital, where he needed painful skin grafts to heal his injuries.

He has now met paramedic Darren Chambers and emergency care assistant Paul Maurer, who were first at the scene.

They found Mr Ingold outside his home on October 8 and immediately put him into the shower to relieve the burns he had suffered to his face and arm.

Mr Ingold said: “I was in complete shock and I want to thank these guys for reacting as fast as they did.”
