From inspiring paper designs to intricately printed textiles, the individual pieces held by the Warner Textile Archive in Braintree are works of art in their own right.

Opening at Braintree Library tomorrow, Art in Print celebrates the exceptional skill of Warner and Sons’ design team through 30 carefully selected items from the Warner Textile Archive Collection.

From captivating designs inspired by the intrigue of the Orient, to dainty and romantic florals, documents have been faithfully reproduced to retain their original charm and character.

The exhibition will feature designs from local artists such as Edward Bawden and Edmund Hunter.

Each design on display in the library’s Dome Gallery will be available to order for prices between £12.50 and £40 (unframed).

Young visitors will have the opportunity to create their own work of art, inspired by the designs on display, as part of the Printing the Future competition.

Winning entrants will have their design professionally printed and framed, and hung in the Dome Gallery later in the year.

Art in Print runs until November 1. Open 9am -5pm, Monday to Saturday. Free entry. The library is in Fairfield Road.
