Three cars were involved in crashes on the same stretch of road this morning.
Police were called to the B1256 at the junction with Braintree Road, near Dunmow, shortly before 8am.
A Citroen C3 and Audi A3 had collided and a Ford Focus had been involved in a separate minor crash.
All three emergency services attended.
A rapid response car, paramedic officer and two ambulances were dispatched to treat two adults and two children.
The four casualties suffered only minor injuries but were taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, as a precaution.
