There are a whole host of fun days and fetes to enjoy the last of the summer.

Witham Rugby Football Club will be welcoming in the next rugby season with a fun day tomorrow from 12.30pm.

There will be activities for all the family including water zorbing, football zorbing, giant inflatables, candy floss, donuts, cake stall, a barbecue, a beer tent, handcraft stalls, boot camp, petting farm, a raffle, fairground stalls, a tea cup ride, plus arena performances and a jumble sale.

Entrance to the event, taking place at the club’s grounds on Spa Road, Witham, is 50p per person with a £1 parking charge.

On Sunday, there is a village fete in Rayne.

Rayne village fete is an annual event where every group both young and old are invited to hold a stall and generate interest for new members. There will be 5-a-side football, zorb football, climbing wall, BMXing, as well as displays, a photography competition and competitions.

There will be a closing ceremony with the presentation of the cups to the winning Five a side football teams.

The fete, in Rayne Village Hall and Playing Fields, Gore Road, Rayne, will take place from 1pm until 5pm.

Next Saturday Great Notley Community Association is holding their annual fete.

There are competitions for best victoria sponge, top tray, jar of jam, fancy dress, miniature garden and top vase, which carry a 50p entrance charge and entry forms, available from the website, must be returned by Monday.

There will also be a dog show for the first time this year, with a range of classes from best puppy, dog with the waggiest tail, and breed classes that can be entered on the day.

There will also be a range of stalls and things to do at the fete, in the Great Notley Community Hall and on the village green.

Dunmow Cricket club is also holding a fete next Sunday between 12 noon and 4pm.

All are welcome to take part in a range of sideshows and attractions and the club will also make its junior awards at this event for age groups ranging from U9 to U15.

The event will take place at Dunmow Cricket Club, in St Edmunds Lane, Dunmow.
