A labourer accepted a challenge to have ice and water poured over him in Witham’s high street to raise money for charity.

Floor layer Steve Fry, 30, was tagged to do the ice bucket challenge by his brother-in-law as he was sitting in the Red Lion in Newland Street on Thursday afternoon.

Not one to do things by halves, Mr Fry, of Croft Road, Kelvedon, decided to complete the challenge there and then.

He said: “I just so happened to be in the pub and they had the ice machine there."
