Negotiations are under way to build a new solar farm less than two miles away from a proposed 20-acre site with 92,000 solar panels.

Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd is hoping to install an array of solar panels capable of powering 3,770 homes a short distance away from the historic Cressing Temple Barns.

The nine-hectare site, which comprises three agricultural fields, is also positioned close to another proposed solar farm by Esco NRG south of Sheepcote Wood in Witham Road, Cressing.

If built, the two solar farms combined will provide enough power for every home in Witham and around half of the 17,000 homes in Braintree.
