Day of action for police in Clacton

POLICE descended on a seaside town for a day of action.

Officers conducted high visibility patrols in Clacton throughout Saturday and, for the first time, into the night too.

Revellers entering clubs and pubs were searched for knives while shops with alcohol licences were tested to make sure they weren't selling to people underage.

Sergeant Andy McFarlane said the day of action was a success.

So why have they waited so long to do it. Why aren't they out patrolling every Saturday night?

Too little far too late. This scenario should have been activated as soon as it was obvious that Clacton was suffering theseproblems.
I do not suppose for one minute this police action will be repeated in the forseeable future with all the financial cute etc.

what do you want a police state or people to behave like human beings?

Unfortunately, most (not all) inhabitants of places like clacton, harwich, basildon etc have never been taught how to behave like human beings so a police state like approach in these towns is necessary.

Clacton especially has always been rough, but now is just plain dangerous.

No, I do not want a police state, nor do I want people to behave like "human beings". I just want people to have fun, behave responsibly and show consideration for others. Just like we used to do. After all, most of us still manage it.

Great comment Dave Bruce. I guess it's silly but I prefer to remember it from when I was a kid on our family trips to the seaside and people knew how to behave.away those good old days...
