Cannabis: Police found 500 plants at a house in Ashley Road, Dovercourt
A MAN has been arrested after 500 cannabis plants were found in drugs raid.
Police officers raided a house in Ashley Road, Dovercourt, after receiving intelligence from residents in the area.
They executed a search warrant at the house on Saturday, and discovered about 500 cannabis plants being grown in every room of the house.
Officers described the scene as one of the most sophisticated operations they had seen.
A 27 year-old man was arrested at the scene, and is being questioned by detectives at Braintree police station.
Neighbourhood policing sergeant Simon Tattersall said: “Cannabis cultivation and drugs supply are just two scourges of society and we are only too happy to put an end to it with arrests and seizures like this in Dovercourt.
“This one on Ashley Road was one of the most sophisticated and professional we have seen in north-east Essex.
“The whole house, and not just one room, was kitted out with the sole purpose of growing drugs.
“We are in the business of enhancing the quality of life for people living in all parts of Essex and we can easily and readily do this if we are tipped off about suspicious or known illegal activity.”
