NEW software which interrogates computers to find evidence of child sex abuse is being used in Essex to catch paedophiles.
The Triage Investigator system was installed by several forces last year and is believed to have led to many paedophiles being jailed, although exact figures are not available.
The software is stored on a memory stick which is put into a computer before scanning for indecent images of children.
It also searches chat rooms, messages, e-mail addressses and anything which has been accessed from the computer.
The software can work in a matter of minutes rather than the months it took previously.
A spokesman for Essex Police confirmed the system is being used to try and catch paedophiles in the county.
