Another rant from wellnow.
.
Are we to descend to the level of criminals, as he suggests? ie, to break the nose and cheek of the perpetrator in cold blood?
.
Thus begins the true cycle of violence and retreat from civilisation.

It's hardly a rant..

Definition of "rant":

To speak or write in an angry or violent manner; rave.

Not long enough to be a rant in my opinion.

Anyway, it looks like you are saying live and let live here!

Not saying live and let live, at all.
.
Just saying let's not be mob-violent, lynch-mob minded. Let's not descend to the same level of violence as the offenders here.
.
We are supposed to have evolved to a state of civilisation.
.
Nothing in the definitiion of "rant" to indicate that it should be lengthy, by the way.

Actually there is and also if people describe someone as 'ranting' it's not when someone has made a short statement like 'I believe in an eye for an eye for violent crime' Nothing else in that statement could be described as particularly aggressive.

I also don't think 'Wellnow' has made any reference to the mob either.

I guess we will have to disagree.

In my opinion, while I don't agree with vigilantism, as violent scumbags would find another outlet for their aggression, I would inwardly cheer if, in fleeing from the crime scene, the perpetrators above had fallen on the ice and broken their legs!

Not aggressive to remove an eye for an eye? Interesting...
.
Would you then be prepared to do this to a criminal? It would make you nearly as bad as the perpetrator. Of course you could delegate to someone else, and no doubt you would find a self righteous person prepared to gain financially from such an action.
.
No wonder violence does not come to an end, but grows in horrible ways, when the "onlookers" would cheer at pain and distress even though the sufferer had caused such pain to another.
.
This sort of sentiment perpetuates the chain of violence.

I said nothing else in that statement....

An eye for an eye IS aggressive, nothing else in the statement is particularly so.
