The county's gritters will be out in force today as more snowfall could be possible.
Essex County Council sent their gritters out at 1pm today in advance of this evening's rush hour.
The gritters follow a regular route of major highways and link roads.
Residents can find a map of treated and untreated roads at www.essex.gov.uk/winter
Tomorrow morning is likely to be icy, so residents are advised to travel with extra caution, especially when travelling on untreated roads.
County councillor Tracey Chapman, cabinet member for highways, said: "Our gritters did a brilliant job coping with the heavy snow last weekend, and this work has continued throughout this week.
"With more severe weather likely I urge all residents to travel with extra caution and keep checking local weather forecasts for the latest updates."

It would only take one day for a gritter to grit all estate roads in Braintree but we are told it is due to costs. Understandable that Bus routes take first priority but that does not take 6 days.
Every one get on to your councillors (both County and District) and tell them to get it sorted.
